The 1967 Porsche 911 R in Grand Prix White represents one of the most extreme and rare early 911 variants ever built, created as a road-legal race car with an uncompromising focus on lightweight performance. With only around 19 customer cars produced, it featured extensive use of fiberglass body panels, Plexiglas windows, and a stripped interior to achieve an incredibly low weight of roughly 800 kg—giving it a power-to-weight ratio that surpassed many competitors of its time . Powered by a high-revving 2.0-liter flat-six derived from Porsche’s race program, the 911 R delivered razor-sharp performance and agility. What truly set it apart was this obsessive weight reduction philosophy combined with race-bred engineering, effectively making it one of the earliest examples of a purpose-built, road-going race car and a blueprint for decades of Porsche motorsport dominance.
